Microsoft agrees to buy Skype for $8.5 billion

Till yesterday there were just rumors, but now it has been confirmed that Microsoft has agreed to buy Skype for $8.5 billion. This is the biggest sum Microsoft has paid for an acquisition to date. Microsoft plans to integrate Skype with Microsoft Lync, Outlook, Xbox, Kinect and Xbox Live.

Microsoft has pledged to continue to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms such as Linux, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, and WebOS. Is this the end of Skype or a new beginning, only time will tell.

HP refreshes laptop line

HP has just launched a refresh of their popular laptop line. The new product include the Mini 210, Envy 14, Pavilion dv4, Elitebook 2560p, 2760p and ProBook 5330m. In this post we will be focusing on the new ENVY 14.
